Most of my free time is spent over at my best friends house spinning tag team sets all night for fun. Every once in a while others come over and throw down too. Anyways, my friends became friends with someone that brings over his pioneer CD player to mix into our sets. I fucking hate this thing! MP3 quality sucks! I work hard and spend lots of money and time looking for vinyl that i love, while this kid downloads them for free. It sucks hearing my tracks get played out by him when he didnt even pay for them. I cant even chill with my best friends anymore because i hate that CD player so much. FUCKING LAME!

Yeah I just did a speech on the DJing hobby and how in the future my music collection will be worth diddly cause eveyone will have all my "rare" toons that ive spent countless hours/funds on. But for dubs and such I think its the best ting. Saving 34 bucks each time is way good. But yeah the MP3 thing is sorta lame. :mad

My take is that playing tracks off cd's is something for dj's who produce, or get cd promos DIRECTLY from other producers.

I'll clown on anyone that comes to subConscious and attempts to drop an unauthorized track.

This brings up another thing: the rise of the "Internet Junglists" in the past two years. It seems lately when I try to simply talk about music with a new face on the scene, it ends up with the other person getting into a pissing contest about seeing how many promos and unreleased tracks they can rattle off to me.

I don't give a fuck what records you have or know about, I just go by what I hear on the decks.

cd's cannot go "wikki" :down I have noticed that the internet has been creating more mp3 whores and just promoting ignorance about everything in general in the last 2 years.. I was in compusa looking at hard drives last weekend and one tip off that I believe the above is true was some usb device they are selling now that looked like cd players but they where made to interface some sort of sequencing software to "scratch" mp3's.. it even had a crossfader on it. It was 50 bucks or something. TV also! I seen some gatorade commercial that started out looking down on a turntable, wtf does that have to do about sports drinks?

hey dj does mean DISC jockey
who cares how or what the dj beat matches and layers with...
if you dont know how to skratch there is no point in tables other then mixing with"analogue" equipment and having wow and flutter your all just pissed because its easier to keep on beat than tables

"some guy" - I'm not saying mixing with cd's is lame - I'm saying that when dj's play cd's with tracks they didn't purchase or have authorization to, that's pretty lame.

yup... I plan to keep the 'shit happening' at subConscious to a minimum - since we won't book dj's who do this.

In my opinion mixing cds is ok as long as you are mixing new unreleased tracks that the artist(s) gave you.
I have tons more respect for people who play records because it takes a little more talent and there is more to do such as scratching, beat juggling ect.
I remember reading an article about how cd djs are the "next big thing". I would really hate to see this, but I highly doubt this comment to be true. I think there is more excitment in mixing records such as looking for hard to find tracks, and the whole concept of turntablism.

Did you guys know there is a ride at Disneyland (I forget what its called), but it has a little station that teaches you "How to be a dj and how to scratch." Scary!

At the Expeirence Music Project in Seattle (a music museum - way cool) they have an interactive pseudo-dj-setup that you can practice beat matching and scratching on. Very far removed from the real thing, but gets the basic idea across.

The best thing I saw in the place: Sir Mix-a-Lot's TR-808 next to a gold platted "Swass" medalloin.

1. unless you OWN A CDJ-1000. you do not know what the fuck you are talking about when talking about not being able to scratch or juggle beats or whatever. you can do EVEN MORE turntablist stuff wih them than just decks, as they have loops, hot cue's(you wont know what that is unless you have played with them)
2. about downloading RELEASED songs and not paying for them. im sure we have all blown THOUSANDS of dollars on vinyl. correction, take away teh blown word with spent*. i got abunch of money stolen from me, had to give up spendning 200+ on records every week or so. but i still wanted to jam tracks that were coming out or whatever. what did i do? downloaded like 80 fucking new songs. also, since those songs were like the last month or 2's releases, ive bought probably about 53 of those songs, which were the only ones i liked out of the 80 or so. so ya, the cdj-1000 is the shit on that aspect, i still showed my money contribution, but it helped me through a hard time ;[.
3. i have nothing else to say really, except that cdj-1000's fuckign own, i dont know about any other cd crap, and yes i emphasize the word CRAP because i have not seen anything except the cdj-1000 that coems close to it or whatever. now that my money situation is better, when i get decks again u bet your ass ill have a cdj, O YA!!!! i almost forgot... what about when you are trying to make a trck, but dont know how something will sound?? well, u can cut your .WAV or mp3 or windows media file or whatever and play that shit, then go back on your comp and make some adjustments.

ALSO: I CANT W8 TO HAVE FINAL SCRATCH.
ps...would anyone buy some 'cheaper' copies of it...hehe.

ending statement: cdj's rule, if your dissing, you either dont have one, had one that was fucked up, or are REALLY close minded. or you might really just not like them for some reason but i think i covered most reason.. if not and its logical arguement please post below. peace

Ok whats the best dual CD player out now? Id be interested in coping all my stuff to CD selling my records and just carrying around one of those and my full collection in a small cd bag. That is the future and I think we all know it....

eeek. the dual cd players aare a way differnet story. the cdj-1000 has a platter and once u get used to it for like 2 days its just like playing records.. the other you feel like your playin cds... most are all pretty gay except for the cdj-1000. also preecha.... i know u need your shit sped up.. and the cdj's jhave switch on em to make em go past plus 10 if u need

rawbee is correct in the fact that cdj 1000's are alike tables in usage... they are the shiznit because they sound almost better than vinly when you scratch... no needle to fuck up... and you have to throw it like a record(or you can use the play pause button but thats bitch and there is a bit of delay)

but they should only be used on conjuncion with 2+ turn tables so there is still some wow/flutter effect from the tables so that your not a bitch who can remeber the pitch settings and press buttons

i personally shy away from cd mixers due to lack of experience, but think it's stupid to condemn some one for the particular tool they use to convey their music. on the otherhand the "you reactionary fucks need to wise up and get w/ cd's cause its the future" is weak and self rightuous...if anything the future is ramanboy...he dj's/jams in 2 hard drives. it's unreal!:monkey
