So since most of you probably don't make a living producing or spinning records, what do you do to pay your rent, feed yourself and your record addictions?
I program web applications, database admin and also some graphic design to keep alive.. the pay isn't that great, but it puts records on my tables each month.
hey cool a monkey -> :monkey was that always here?

I do web application development and some design [ http://www.ovumdesign.com/ ] we are finishing up the new Phoenix Children's Hospital web site this week - subConscious runs on the same home made system (not this board, the rest of the site)
Ramenboy is my partner in crime with Ovum, btw - I have mad respect for his coding skills.

Update 2005 - Pretty much the same thing + more. Technically I am a full time "Consultant" but I've been working on a large enterprise level application infrastructure (:alert buzzword police!:alert ) since I moved out of Phoenix last October. Probably biggest project I ever started and most resources I ever had to manage. Could be two years before it's complete. Lots of fun.

Flinn is actually privately endowed grantmaking organization.. not a non-profit. They GIVE money to little nonprofits like mine.
:D
And of the privately endowed grantmaking orgs- I beleive Flinn is actually #3 behind Virginia G. Piper and Az Community Fdn.

I asked her a question and she answered it - I was not attempting to "challenge" her or anything of the sort. I think its great that I could actually talk to someone on this board about something like Flinn.

I went to the sw arts conference last month, Jason, and thought of you and other local artists I know....
ACA (arizona commission on the arts) is now offering individual artist career advancment grants. They are tiny (maximum is $750) but if you have a great idea for a project or need assistance with your porfolio prep: basically anything to do with career advancement: they will provide you w/ funding.
www.arizonaarts.org (also a great website for job opportuntities in the arts) for more info
(the first review of apps is next month.)
