"Stateside Sessions Vol. 2" features a cutting edge track listing of Jungle's finest, most progressive producers, mixed together flawlessly by Empress. Her sound is unique… high energy drum'n bass that covers all spectrums of the genre… funky, sexy, dark & deep, with rich bass lines and intricate percussion.
Empress describes "Stateside Sessions", "When word got out that I was working on this project, I was flooded with tracks from up & coming producers that I had met through out my travels. I feel it's very important to support and showcase new talent, since they are the future of this scene. The CD itself is called Stateside Sessions, so I really wanted to make sure that a good number of American artists were well represented on the track listing, at the same time, I wanted to make sure that drum'n'bass was represented in all its forms by different artists worldwide."
Through perseverance and dedication Empress has garnered respect from her US peers and accolades from the UK's jungle elite. She is respected for her style and control on the turntables, as well as for her refined taste for upfront, progressive tunes.
In 1996, the darker style lured her deep into the world of Drum & Bass. Between working as the head drum and bass buyer for three Satellite Records locations (NYC, Boston, Atlanta), and spinning records all night, Empress gained insight and refined her skills on the decks. In a very short time her notoriety grew, and her talent catapulted her past rival DJs.
For Empress, "it's all about the music, ultimately. I make sure that my sets are well rounded, up to date, while representing what I feel expresses my sound, regardless of when it's released." She proves this weekly, rocking clubs and raves in North America and all over the globe, from festivals in Macedonia, to Databass in L.A., to the Liquid Room in Tokyo, to the Icon Club in Berlin, and Movement in London-- Empress is a drum & bass warrior…touring and playing the music she loves non-stop to thousands of fans.
With a tour schedule that does not quit, Empress now spends much of her time on the road… and the rest of it in Brooklyn, in the studio.
