Or the TUC scene in general? I just got back from AZ sessions, and that was cool (bigup Johnny, Karlmetro and Scott G), but what happened to Congress? Zero and I went down to TUC to play on Tues. night with Rob F and it was cancelled when we got there...?

Good Question.

Im not really sure whats going on with the scene down in Tucson.I think Congress is about done for.Poor attendance week after week has killed it.Im on vactaion right now,but when I get back I want to have a talk with Lisa and Tony about getting Vaudeville going again.I really liked that place.Hopefully we can get this sheyt going before too long...

hard to say what makes a good oppurtunity go stale? anecdotal evidence says that the ridiculous political forces in our tiny scene cannot settle their differences. i always like to say that is similar to a central american dictatorship. control of the night at congress seems to change from week to week. this partially the fault of the hotel because they offer no support, but this night especially has had absolutely no promotion. week to week no one knows if it is going on, whether some other band has been booked, or who is playing. a calendar of upcoming dates and guest posted at the local record shops, coffee houses, old folks homes and soup kitchens would go a long way to getting more people just to recognize that there is a d+b night in town. soon enough congress with decide that d+b is a losing genre and replace the night, as they have already begun to do, with another evening of :daeth straight up bullshit 80's hits. :daeth

i wish it were better. i wish everyone would realize that the future sounds lie above 170bmp. i wish we could pass up the kid games that keep good dj's from playing good music to a good bunch of people who really want to hear it, and shake their pants off doing it.

Oh mannn I almost forgot about that gatdamn town..............
I have to move back there in 2 weeks for school. If you guys dont have Tuesday nights anymore> what are you all doing for fun?

I have a preference for the Shanty on 4th and the Shelter on Grant (slow nights only when the locals arent around).

I went to Vaudville once, the only thing that stands out in my mind is that I had the shittiest Cosmopolitian of my life.
(If a drink is on special, know how to make it!)

other than that, I sit around and wait for the weekend to show up so i can get the hell out of that town.

alternatives?

Whats going on with Congress.............
Well, I haven't been there in over a month, but from what you guys are saying its canceled, which is what I expected. It makes me sad.
I think the question should be "Whats wrong with the people in Tucson?" That has an easy answer..........

Drama, hard headed people, and politics. Its sad when things like this take over a fresh scene which consists of no more than 20 dnb djs. For a scene so new and small the idea would be to work together right? It seems nearly impossible tho. Why? It seems as tho everyone has a different agenda, and it also seems as tho the majority of people here have a hard time working together. Something always happens and people end up hating eachother. Shit gets talked, weak minds believe it, and accusations are made. Also, to me is seems as tho there is lack of promotion, lack of enthusiasm, and a lack of love for one another and possibly for the music.

Congress has been used and abused. First Sync was running the night. I'm not sure what happened there, but then Clay Steel took over. Then Tony and Christina took over, then Christina and I took over. Now Christina and Tom are runnin things..or were? I dunno. All I know is I am sure the owners are fed up and done with dnb. Sad.

I would love to run a night again. But only with people who are really excited about what we are doing and are down to give 110%. I know that sounds cheesy, but its true. I have no problems with any of the people who are associated with dnb in Tucson and I wish we could all work together. That is far from reality tho. I know of a couple venues so if any of you Tucson heads are down with helping out, or playing just get back with me. I know Tony, Clay Steele, Just, Manic, and Wes are down. Anyone else?

To the people who were booked by me to play Congress and didn't get a chance to before i quit doing it......I am sincerily sorry and i will make it up to you.

And to the Azsessions crew.......You have all of my respect. I'm sorry I couldn't make it the other night but I had to work late.
Scott - I know we have talked before about whats going on. Lets get together and see what we can do to make things better.

Also, if any of you ever want to hang out and play some tunes or work on some music, just let me know!! I am always down!I'm a big dork....... all I do is work, play records, and write music. So lets get together! And if any of you Phoenix heads ever want to make the lovely drive down to Tucson to do the same, then you are more than welcome to come over.

Blah blah blah. I am done.

it seems as though you are projecting some of what seem to be your own qualities into your above statement.
