There is a clip of "Plummet" on DOA, and there are clips of the first Alloy release on www.getgrimey.com. If vectorburn.com goes live anytime soon(out of my hands, unless there are any kind souls willing to take on web hosting pro bono), there will be extensive clippage of everything related to VB, including recent collaborations with Infiltrata and Cerebral Integration.
01_ Guns and roses- "welcome to the jungle"
02_ Motley Crue- "girls girls girls"
03 _Billy Idol- "white wedding"
04_ Bon Jovi - "slippery when wet"
05 _Winger - "she's only seventeen"

I served pizza to Kip Winger at my last job in Sata Fe. No shit.
I also saw Winger in concert(with The Bulletboys and Cinderella) when I was 10.

This song is gonna get played out sooooo fast. There isn't a single DnB DJ (myself included) that I know who doesn't own it. Good thing Concord Dawn have mad skill to make their tunes interesting enough to warrant massive repeat listenings. Can't wait for the upcoming Black Sun Empire vs. Concord Dawn tunes that are coming out on BSE's new label. :slayer

Oops, you're right, infidel. The last time I visited getgrimey was when it first launched, and the "now playing" song was VECTOR BURN - "Relapse", and there was a little news brief about Alloy. Apparently it has chenged since then, sorry for the outfated info. The internet moves fast!
Search DOA for clips by Castor and Myself, also the New Beats section of the DSCI4 board.

we keep throwing around the idea of starting a record club. somebody gets a business license and gets an account with the distributor. you take orders from people, get the records in from the distributor, and sell them at cost plus a percentage for the shipping. keep no stock on hand, only deal with friends who will buy what they order [have hired goons to enforce], and take no profit for yourself. everyone gets their new 12" for $3 instead of the $11 you normally pay. i think the law says you can run a business for three years before you have to show a profit, so as long as you making anything on this endeavor, you should be able to avoid the normally related taxes.

keep us posted on that-- i've heard of "professional" DJs doing the same thing to keep their costs down. if it's at all doable i would be 110% down.

I was in one of those, a hip hop one, in CA.
Cool and everything, but the problem with that is the low marketing budget most independent labels have, especially in DNB.
You will have one of two (or both) problems:
1) Bigger labels (RAM, etc) have bigger budgets, so they will send bulk shipments, as they can afford it. Translation: 15-25 of the same record, meaning everyone in your pool will be playing the same records. Homogeneity within a local scene.
2) Smaller labels, independents have smaller budgets, and will only be able to send very few copies to the pool (maybe 5 if youre lucky). Then you have the problem of setting up a hierarchy of importance within the pool, on who gets those coveted few copies. This only leads to further politics and drama amongst the DJs within the pool and between those DJS and the pool head(s).
But on an economic tip, its a good idea. DJs save money, and labels get their records heard.

My top 5 dnb tunes right now: (not in any specific order)
1. Ice Minus "Zen"
2. Future Prophecies "Rock Steady"
3. JO-S "Disintegration"
4. Concord Dawn "Take Me Away"
5. Vectorburn "No Future"
By the way, all of these tunes I either own, or have played at least once. I am not trying to make myself look "cool" by throwing up a list of songs that I read about, or heard of through other people. I almost feel like I am entering some sort of contest by posting this, so please, don't think any less of me if my list isn't up to par...
