Well last week or what not at the Dragon when I was playing some chick was just buggin the shit out of me on the stage. She kept comming up there and yelling "Yeah I love Jungle" and other stuff, which was ok. But then she brought her girl friend up also and they were both hangin on me as i was playing. That was about the most annoing thing I have been faced with. Finally Dee screamed at her to get the hell of the stage lol. She didnt say a thing to me the rest of the night. I think it was her drugs talking anyways. No worries hehe:monkey

Great Thread.

I recently played at a party in Tucson called Toast.I was opening up my set,and these 2 candy raver girls walk over to me,and I swear on my soul, asked me If I had any Happy Core.I looked at her and said....NO!

After that she asked me where the trace/house/techno room was and I told her this was the main stage so they stayed and watched my set.

That's usually followed with a frown when you say "No."

"but! but! I was dancing to your set the whole time when you played at blah blah blah" :crying

whats up with Happy Hard Core and Hardcore in AZ anyway, I cant beleive people are still spinning it! That shit went out like 5 years ago. I saw this flyer recently and it said something about bringing in djs from different parts of the country according to there genre, like dnb from LA, and then it had some chode from from seattle spinning Happy Hard Core?? Louis Sypher or something, never heard of him. Nobodys played HHC forever, now its all Techno, tech house, or Dnb. Thats why Rinse n Flux just moved there, along with Stakka and Skynett, like a year ago. I used to deliver pizza there, and got this call from this guys with british accents and they were like do you guys have any coleslaw with your pizza and all this. Then they ordered under the last name Vinall, I didnt know stakka and skynett lived there during that time and was wondering if it was. So I pull up to this house and Skynett answers the door. I brought them Coke instead of diet coke, so im like ill be back. I go back and hes like " oh wicked" or some shit. Anyway, I pulled up to there house banging one of there tracks, this is when the clockwork ep just came out.Anyway I walked away not realizing who they where till Zacharia, had told me it was them. I rolled by and nocked on there door and introduced myself and got to see a massive room full collection of vinyl and all there production gear. They have some tight fucking Hardcore, from the early nineties. Theyre really nice guys, and this was such a weird situation for me, ive played along side of them twice, after that, and got them herb a few times. I have some tunes on cd no ones going to hear for a while.

The last time I was in AZ--last August, I believe--I played a small house party for the Inkblotch kids. To make things short, there were some uninvited guests....this drunk-ass idiot--who had obviously not been exposed to the club scene at all--walked up to the decks and put his hand on my 10" that was playing and started scratching--if you can call it scratching...more like nails on a chalkboard, but whatever.

Needless to say, I was PISSED. :raging

Fucker. :mad

Anyway, I realized later that it probably wasn't the best idea to yell at him: this guy was more than likely a vato from the 'hood off Thomas & 48th Street. In retrospect, I'm probably REALLY lucky my ass didn't get shot that night, considering the other colorful characters that showed up.

Miss Jag, that's insane. I can't belive you didn't stop spinning right then. I hope there's not a boat full of those crazies at Golden in a couple of weeks!

Nah, I'm not going to punish everyone else for the actions of one...I don't like to disappoint people--not that I'm out to please everyone because anyone who knows me knows that just ain't my dish. I'm just not one to pull the bitch attitude on everyone when one person gets in my way....of course, I make sure that whoever stepped on my toes isn't likely to do it again...

But that's just me. :menacing

Don't fuck with the DJ...especially if she's me. :D

1.) "Can you play something besides Techno"...This really bothers me since I spin breaks.

or

2.) "Did your boyfriend teach you?"

Miss Jag
06-06-2002, 03:53 AM
Or, "Is your boyfriend a DJ too?"

But what really irks me is when my fiance and I are checking in--and he always carries my box--and they think that he's the DJ instead of me. :raging

The strangest, most annoying thing I ever saw somebody do at a party was a couple years ago when my ex-boyfriend had to play at La Luna. This random & very new to the scene/new to the drugs type kid climbed up on the stage right in the middle of his set& started flailing around next to the decks. Then he started twisting knobs& trying to mess with the pitch control. My boyfriend didn't wanna be mean, so he suggested that he just stick to the dancing. About 5 minutes later the kid got back on the stage & put his head to the side& started licking the records that were playing, then he tried breakdancing (something he obviously hadn't done before) and he ended up kicking the table that the decks were on, causing the record to skip. Needless to say this person was escourted away from the stage area for the remainder of the evening. Fuckin' E-tards ,man.

At this outdoor party- Unity- in western PA, some big fat dude got naked, got on stage and ran right into the tables. Everything stopped and everyone was booing. Dr. Trance was spinning and he just started laughing. If you know what he looks like he looks like a typical 50 year old dad. That was quite amusing. But then they had to set everyhing up again.

ewe- and I saw his weiner :( :holy shit

personaly, i think the most annoying thing said, and it never fails, someone out there on the floor asks it, its inevitable.

"do you have that one song with that one beat with those vocals, you know which one im talking about right?"

i've heard stories like that before. friend of mine from canada had one where he was spinning his limited edition aphex twin brown vinyl 10" and some other dj came up, smack the tone arm off the record, scratching it badly, and saying "what hell is this shit?"

nothing like an event stopping whilst the dj and other dj duke it out.

1.Let me try
2.What are you doing?
3.When I'm playing jungle and people tell me to play hip hop, when I'm playing hip hop and people start telling me to play jungle. I play what I'm in the mood for!!!!!!
4.When are you going to scratch again?

And the ultimate, when people assume you like every kind of techno, even happycore, when they hear you play drum and bass.

Ummmm, you have to spin and mix drum and bass if you want to be cool. Unless you go through life only listoning to individual tracks. Which is cool but it's like taking people on a musical adventure when your playing a bunch of tracks and making it all sound like one. Scratch that shit and cut it up if your super cool. Liston to RAW's watch me shred, thats what dj's have to do with drum and bass you asshole, they promote it and enhance it.

Its annonying because they'll usually ask when you are in the middle of a mix or finding your cue on the next tune. The other reason its lame is because its loud and you usually have to shout it a few times for the person to hear it.

There's an art to asking a dj what record he played - the best thing is to remember the tracks before and after it if you know them, or how far into the set the tune came in, and ask afterwards. Otherwise, if you MUST know right then and there, wait for the dj to pull off a record and ask them before they go diggin for another track.
