2. The Lucky Dragon Bathroom
3. The Electric Ballroom & Gibson's are gone, yet Long Wongs is still standing.
4. Artificial Culture (aka, Scottsdale Club Crowd)

I guess there's nothing wrong with being all about your looks and who knows you, what car you drive, etc. - diffrn't strokes and all that. Most of the people are good fine citzens... its just the few who act like they are some type of demigod (ie, "don't you know who I am? I must be on the list!") that ruin it for the whole lot.

whats wrong w/ the bathroom at LD? Graffitti is one of the key elements of this underground culture we all strive to support, right?Displaying art only encourages other artists to participate.

There's nothing wrong with grafitti - but in a bathroom? Tagging toilet seats? Floors? http://www.dogsonacid.com/images/smilies/puke.gif
Not to mention the already long wait to get in there, and to think the hold up is some toy writing some busted-ass tag?
(#4) haha! take '944 magazine' for example...an official publication where you can find out which clubs are playing dj dookiepants-do you think you're better off alone (rmx) this weekend. i was given a free issue on campus and the only thing that made it worth reading was the free vibrator coupon in the back. STOOPS!

:D
well I think that riding bikes and racing quads and wake boarding and snowboarding etc,,,,,, is fun too..
but there is nothing wrong with the abiltiy to find out about people in your city and stuff to do without having to go to some lame ass club and deal with a bunch of idiots first hand, to find out it sux.. Besides whats wrong with a little intellect,
The local scene is doing pretty good , its getting more organized and ,structured..
People are learning from their mistakes and making it better.
I guest what sux about the scene is the mainstream clubs with all the quidos, and stuck up attitude B.S.. But that shit is always going to exist and I dont have to go there if I dont want to.....
everybody gets comfortable playing follow the leader,,, you gota be the leader to follow..

Scene needs more hot/spiritual/djing gurls!
All those other points you guys made are moot.
I wouldn't say all the other points are moot. They are points, after all. It shouldn't be all about girls. We're great and all, but we're hardly the answer to the underlying problems. The big picture will only become apparent if all of the contributing factors are recognized. Attitude and image obsession, obviously results of self-consciousness, are definitely holding us back.

You're right it shouldn't be all about girls, but where girls are guys follow. I feel that holds DnB scenes back in a sense of flourishment because what guys want to go to a sausage fest? It is about the music but yet on the other hand think about the friendships that you have made because of DnB. You go out to listen to good choons and hang out with people that share the same feeling about the music that you do.

From what I've seen and all the parties I've gone; the promoting is the worst thing about the scene out here.
Honesty is the best policy for a promotions crew! Don't try and be something you aren't and nobodys' goin 2b disappointed with what you don't got!

Right...the original post I had commented on was suggesting that the only bad part about the scene was the lack of "hot girls"...any guy who's interested in dnb is going to go out regardless of whether there are girls there or not, so it's hardly what's holding the scene back. Hot girls have nothing to do with the downfalls of the scene. The lack of unity is, however, a contributing factor...and is perhaps more on point with what you're talking about.

Hey and i'm new...but I would like to know more about the free vibrator coupon! A girl can always use another vibrator!!!
well, if you're familiar with scottsdale, stop into some store like liquid clothing, or somewhere similar where guys can get black shiny double-knit poly "goin' out" shirts with flames on them, and you'll probably find a stack of 944 magazines. in the back, they have many dope coupons, among which is one for a free vibrator from fascinations adult boutique. let's get GRIMEY! :menacing

I HEARD A LITTLE RUMOR THAT MOST DRUM AND BASS AND JUNGLE LISTENERS DO NOT LIKE HIP HOP AT ALL. WHAT'S UP W/ THAT? TO ME DRUM AND BASS SOUNDS LIKE HIP HOP THAT IS JUST FASTER AND LOUDER. AND THERE ARE STILL HATERS OF EAST COAST MUSIC OUT THERE.. WHAT'S THAT ABOUT. IT'S ANNOYING WHEN SOME OPINIONS OF MUSIC MAY ACTUALLY HOLD PEOPLE BACK FROM PROGRESSING AS ARTIST IF YOU ARE A DJ OR MC OR PROMOTER. HEY EVEN THOUGH HIP HOP IS GOING THROUGH A COMMERCIAL PHASE DOESN'T MEAN IT SUKS.
I'M A HIP HOPPER FOR LIFE, THROW UP THE DUB!!!!!

i think most people like hip hop...personally i do. i grew up in detroit in the early 80's and was raised on it. on the otherhand i am not sure i want to have hiiip hop blanketed over dnb. the reason i gravitated from hip hop to dnb was i was bored of expectations being imposed upon me to have to be involved in the culture. when i got into dnb i was not cool or popular. now that it has gained that popularity i'd hate for it run the same road of current hip hop. but that is just my opinion....only my opinion .
the scene is gonna go its own direction it always has.

....and expectations?... as what a dj,dancer,mc, if you have talent why worry about what others think just rock like you want. see me, i don't need to be down w/ any crew to get off on some music...shit i'll roll solo and chill. i never unstood people who feel they need to be so clicky when it comes to alll the little scenes in AZ. i'm not trying to talk shit but a lot of people take themselves way to serious when it comes to this shit and I THINK ITs SOOOOOO FUNNY!!!!

i'm not worried what they think...just the opposite...almost to a fault. since your so down for anything how come i haven't seen to rolling solo and getting down when i'm spinning dub influenced uk garage and breakstep in scottsdale? if you roll as you say you do you should be able to get down there too, right?
shit i'll even buy you a drink if you show up this sunday.
in case you weren't aware we start sub:con every week with something other than dnb. usually hip hop, soul or dub.
the expectations i was refering to were image verses music. the same as i enjoy rave music but don't particularly want to hang out w/ e-tards chomping on a pacifier.
don't worry though it ain't nuthin' but a thang.

To me culture is the very force which drives people to create new and innovative music. How we are living is directly reflected in our music.
So how can you be down with ghetto music if you cant relate to the ghetto. Replace "GHETTO" with "UNDERGROUND" if it better suits you, because they are one in the same.

never said anything about ghetto or underground. i 've lived on my own since i was 15 and grew up on the strets of detroit, so i am very aware of "ghetto" if you will.
trailer parks are a form of ghetto. so by your definition of ghetto/undergruond what does that make bands like "korn" "kid rock" or "limp bizkit". are they underground as well?
to further my point i have inclued the webster's definition of "ghetto"
Main Entry: 1ghet·to
Pronunciation: 'ge-(")tO
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural ghettos also ghettoes
Etymology: Italian, from Venetian dialect ghèto island where Jews were forced to live, literally, foundry (located on the island), from ghetàr to cast, from Latin jactare to throw -- more at JET
Date: 1611
1 : a quarter of a city in which Jews were formerly required to live
2 : a quarter of a city in which members of a minority group live especially because of social, legal, or economic pressure
3 a : an isolated group <a geriatric ghetto> b : a situation that resembles a ghetto especially in conferring inferior status or limiting opportunity <stuck in daytime TV's ghetto>
