OOhh jaZZ!! I really got into Jazz about a year or two ago. I always listen to it by mtself and what not. It always seemed that older people liked it. I thought I was the only kid. It's so fucking awesome to see that so many kids love it. It's one of the most interesting art forms out there. But as for K-jazz, personally I think it could be MUCH better. If I hear So what, Take Five, or fucking Super Califra........(don't know how do spell it?) one more time I am going to puke. When I hear those tracks I think of older, rich, white folks in there million dollar homes on Camelback Mt.. That kind of vibe/atmosphere does not make me think of jazz, ya know what I mean? I think Miss Blaze is overlooking or not acknowledging a lot of other artists. It seems to be targeted towards an older crowd. O'well. There are some pretty good tunes on there time to time though.

Sub Con Jazz- now!!!

I am a big fan of the traditional jazz musicians mentioned above but I am also a fan of the not so-traditional jazz artists such as Sun-ra, The Chicago Underground/Duet/Trio/Quartet/Orchestra, The Tin Hat Trio, The Tied and Tickled Trio, John Zorn(i dunno if you could really call that jazz), Phil Ranelin, and of course Medeski Martin and Wood.

Here's some great links to Rahsaan Roland Kirk wavs and mp3s:

Rahsaan Roland Kirk (http://www.alfanet.hu/kirk/index2.html)

If you ever find his "Case of the 3 Sided Dream in Audio Color (from 1975)," listen to the conversation samples about computers (and look at the cover art, fer the sake of Pedro!). Kirk is fascinating and pretty much everything of his is phenomenal.

Great thread, Ariel.
