I just have to say this is the awesomest idea! I love the fact that I can hear like 4 new sets a week (hopefully) and catch all the ones I missed!
It's like Christmas every week!

Good stuff. I mentioned this in another thread, but can we get a track list? Doesn't have to be the djs but just some of the other board member that recognize the tracks. I can only pick up about 40% of the songs. I've been out of the scene for a while but am glad to be back.
Thanks,
Marco

yeah, so dj's with your live sets on here: write up a track listing when you get a chance and I'll put it up on your set page. This is good for educating locals, and showing up in search engines when people look for artist names. For example:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=Carlito+%26+DJ+Addiction
(look down at the sixth search result)

How to put this litely, I have yet to go to subcon on thursday because I work till 11pm so I thought id take a listen to your audio section on here. Well i was kinda disappointed. Watch you will all get on me about this, lets make it clear that im just expressing my opinion. I opened up most of the sets and well, I couldnt Id or feal any of these tracks played, yet along get tired of the of the intos. Funny, ive yet to here most of you guys play live so please tell me you come more correct!
Take a listen to Dj Frictions set on Drum and Bass arena. This is how we do in the 2 0 0 2.

I agree that there are a few not-so-runnin' sets in the archives, but its likely they went down a lot better in the live situation, due to room acoustics, people dancing, live singing and live percussion. There's also the whole 'excited people jumping and making the tables skip' factor with several of the sets.
You are welcome to name the sets you listened to - I don't think any of the dj's that played are going to mind constructive criticism (in fact, this whole thread was created to encourage it)
As for not being able to ID or 'feel' any of the tracks you heard, I'm really curious to hear what's in your crate right now (or mp3 folder if you're an internet junglist)

So you're a Top Twenty Junglist we should presume? I've had the Elements EP: Earth for 3 weeks, and I know U-OME has had it for over a month. We all get promos - no point in boasting. On Thursdays its just a matter of playing what goes well at the moment, not tying to prove you have the latest top-twenty selections.
When I played 'Heard it all before' on Thursday, the crowd was vibing hard to it... a couple of hours later when Don played the 'Mutated remix', there was some intrest for a moment - then people kinda snoozed on it. I would never had figured it would play out that way if I didn't see it myself.
Come out to the night and you'll realize it just a fun vibe on Thursdays; not the end-all, be-all drum n' bass showcase of the latest heavy tunes to make the trainspotters happy.

Yeah man its DEFINETLY not top 20 newest toons on the DJ circuit. Its all about each persons flavor and getting ppl into the music that dont normally know what Drum and Bass is fully. This is not London, Hell even LA/NY or any big city that has a drum and bass history. I see it as an experiment of sorts. If you think you can move the floor in Phoenix, then make a CD bud :)
Blessings...
BTW I listened to that Friction set at Deepfreq's house tonight and can tell you a few tings; such as it would be nice to have our DJs playing Hornet/Brainwash and all the other plates, but until they come out on release or mabey promo we wont be playing them. So I know how they (London) are doing it in the 2 0 0 2. But bringing in Thugged Out Bitch among all the other top 40's that our DJs are playing out here really doesnt say shit to me about someone's record arsenal. Big up anyways :ninja

Ive had the earth ep for months too. This isnt competition, im only telling you all what I think. I really dont know were to begin. I just dont prefer to dance to what I heard it didnt move me., its not what dnb is about now and if you want to argue, your only wrong. Thats great thats what YOU think its about, believe in what you think. I cant say these sets really want me to get up. Although Preecha s dance hall set was good, so loosen your defenses bro.

i never expect a recorded set to move me. let's face it, it's all about being there while it's happening. after singing live for so many years, i would know. it never sounds the same as hearing it over a sound system with the atmosphere of the club/party. besides, we just don't have the right equipment to record a live set. when you really think about it, what's live? usually it's human action, which is not seen while listening to a recorded set. i personally get more out of it when i can see and hear what's going on. on another note. i don't care what you think is now or then with dnb but i do know that your now attitude is definitely not what this scene needs. so until i hear you bringing it proper, you can just hold on to the names of your records. peace:subc

Im not meaning to get anyone mad hear. Sount, without a doubt you have so much talent, and originality, when it comes to what your doing, and I thank you.
On a different note, I would love to see you all tell Andy C, Shimon, Loxy, Bad Company, Ed Rush, etc that they are just top 20 djs.
I may sometime go to your night when I get back to az next month.

thats not what i meant, i misunderstood.
Whats wrong with the fact I stay current. Thats what its all about. Maybe it doesnt move your crowd, and you have my blessings on that.
I stick to my original opinion!:crying

evil...maybe you could do something for your scene other than badmouth it...try building it. it's very easy to criticize other's work ...especially when none of yours is present.
in case you missed it this afternoon deepfreq took this message board down.
why? to make a point...we provide this as a resource to bring our community together and help it move forward. it appears that lately a few too many of you have chosen this resource we (deepfreq, sount, and myself) have given you as a means to sling shit.
case and point we can very easily take it away if you want to continue to abuse it. it would not only free up loads of our time, but we would not be pouring all our resources out to ungrateful little shit talkers. then we could be just like the shit talkers...serving only ourselves and not giving a fuck about others in the scene and acting like we know best.
if you want to impress me please save your words and use your actions. i have dedicated almost ten years of my life to this music and culture and i can honestly tell you that w/o the local support and weeklies you'll never get any support for international acts.
so talk all you want...till you actually do something to benefit your scene w/o looking for some kind of return you're nothing but a parasite!

antics I feel what your saying about staying current. "Nothing" wrong with that, but if you think saying current is the only way to be then your sorely mistaken and dont really see the full spectrum of Drum and Bass or music in general. I love a good dub as much as the next guy. If you were at "our" Bad Company show 2 months ago, you would know. Attendance wasn't there but the dubs were :)

Well im not in az right now, my women and my apartment is though. I did see bad co last month alongside ed rush and optical, siren kaos planet of the drums. Im back home everyother month for residencies. I do things for my community, but just not this one. This isnt my community, I feel I cant help this community ther for I dont care!
If you cant take the heat get outta the kitchen..
Your missing my point completely!

Come on Egotrip, ugh, you all think anyone cares if you shut this board down was that directed at me, if so good. You all need to take a giant set back, stop being so critical. Lets remind you im not a part of your community, im not even in az. So why should i care, I know how it is and I know what you said to my freinds so take a chill. IM not dependant on this scene, cause there is none, whatever your doing ISNT WORKING! HELLO, if youve spent all this time with dnb why do you live here??? I never moved here to live in az forever I had a pretty good idea of how it was. I think its funny along with some of you. From what I hear and read.
No offense Ego, but I heard some wrecks in your set.Like in the first ten minutes
king egorock
07-02-2002, 11:12 AM
youe absolutely right...the wreck you heard was fader bleed that could not be heard over a live soound system...please feel free top not be a part of our community...drum and bass can do w/o your negativity
btw we moved hereto take care of a family member. some of us can see beyond ourselves and do things for others...what about you?

evil - if you're not in Arizona, why do you always get logged using a Phoenix Cox Cable connection?
And if you really aren't part of this community and think what we are doing "isn't working" when you haven't even been to the night, why do you wish to stay on here? Does it really make you feel better to just come on here put everyone and everything down?
As for you being critical of dj sets while sitting your ass in front of a computer, I'd suggest you listen to some of the fine wrecks that Bad Company, Ray Keith and Gridlok threw out at us in the past 2 months. Nobody is perfect - we are trying to build something better, and we constatnly critique each other in person.
BTW, if you are AndyOdyssey - I feel very sad for you... we haven't seen such a broken, shitty, hate-filled attitude since you got kicked off the first time.

Wrecks happen to everyone. I can say without hesitance that I have heard every DJ in this town get loose or wreck at least once.
I have also heard most of the high profile favorite DJ's wreck as well. It is not a big deal. I used to get really upset if that happened to me in front a crowd, but 90% of the people could care less about a fuck up or two. They are there for the music and the live aspect of it. Other wise the clubs would put on mix tapes and save some money. My heart goes out to anyone struggling on the decks, cause we have all been there.

Right! When I'm listening to the sets I do realize it's live in a club environment, not Pro Tools. It's about the music for me. And yea, a wreck here and there is no biggie, but It's nice to hear a smooth mix. I've heard every mix on the archives at least 4 times each, some about 7 times. Forutunately I can listen to music non-stop at work (so I got my headphones on about 9 hours a day). Might have to go check out Zero and Vector Burn tonight.
