Faithless - yeah... DSL did a pretty cool intro with that and the intro to 'Blackout' over it a few years ago at Kind... that track was stuck in my head for months.
Does anyone have this on 12" single? I only have it on the Planet V comp, and its a pretty weak pressing.
Blackout is a great tune to open with aswell.

honestly how can you have one best track to intro with. it basically implies that you have no range as a dj. personally i try to acess the situation and decide from there. also i usually try not to start with the most bangin shit in my bag. instead i tend to leave myself more room by starting a bit tame so i can lead the audience to a creshendo. just my 2 cents

putting down a bangin' track at the beginning of a set really gets the crowd into it quickly, and also helps the dj out by creating good energy/momentum to carry on throughout the set. kinda like how the opening scene of a movie can either suck you right in or bore you. I think the audience should be sucked into a set from the beginning, instead of waiting for it to pick up or get good. Most party-goers seem to have A.D.D. and will go to a different stage if they arent feelin' the first 2 tracks.

i beg to differ...if you start off high speed you have no choice but toremain at top speed or go down. remaining at top speed becomes monotony after a moment and not being able to keep running at a thousand miles an hour kills the vibe. i'm really just going by 9 years of spinning for clubs and raves. 95% of the time this holds true!

i see what your saying, but there are also ALOT of bangin tracks that i intro with that arent high energy at all.:bandit :lighter
why intro with somthin bangin? why not build it up, nice n slow, or at leat use a nice progressive track. I like to use soundeffects and recording of police calls and what not for myt inros.:slayer

Best way to intro, have the mc introduce you, kill the last djs tune stand still and let it rip.
I cant think of many big name dnb djs that start it off on a slower note, unless of coarse the moods right and your at a club.
You might find it monotonous but others dont. Isnt it all though really.
Dj politics 101
slower and more atmospheric in a club
Hit up side the head running at a rave, faster more wicked.
But the raves here suck!!
Wow, you really seem to be quite the authority.
Personally, I don't believe it matters what style of dnb a dj starts with. I think a good dj should start wherever he/she feels the crowd is at. A good dj should have the ability to switch it up and suprise people. You know, keep things interesting? Any style of dnb can get monotonous. I've seen it all and, unlike most, I don't hate on any style. I think it depends on the dj and not on what style people assume is the proper way to start off a set with. A "good" DJ should be able to begin anywhere and still keep a vibe.
I think next time I play I am goping to start with... Do you think you're better off alone. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
