View Full Version : So many wars...so little funding

So I've been thinking a lot lately about the monkey that is portraying himself as the leader of the most powerful (gullible) country in the world. It seems that a lot of the issues the new Bush is faced with correspond with the same problems his father met.....or created, however you would like to see it.

First issue, the "war" on drugs. Some war we're fighting. Spending 600+ million per year only to barely dent the industry (and I would call it an industry because it provides a product which demand exceeds the supply ten fold). Back to numbers: 600 million/year. Over the past lets say...10 years...that's...well you do the math ( for you lazy ones thats over 6 billion dollars). The funds that are taken from the American people who work hard to support themselves and their families, go to battling an enemy that is only such because of the need for control of previous leaders and business men that didn't want to risk "their" money going to someone else. I'm referring to cotton farmers of the 20th century. They were afraid that a product made of hemp would replace their cotton. And why not? Hemp is cheaper, stronger, and more useful than cotton. But since marijuana was seen as some mind altering substance and was the basis of making hemp, they made it illegal. And since the government said that we shouldn't touch it...it became even more popular. Especially during the times that a majority of the younger generations were standing up against the actions of the government that was costing american lives (surprise surprise...it was a war that got them so upset). And don't even get me started regarding oil companies. Americans were greedy mid 1900's....and now....well the millenium must have helped the corporate assholes realize how truely selfish and unhumanitarian they could be (with lesser cost, more profits so that they could have another home, when some don't even have that). With a dying planet, they pump it more full of toxins and cut down the forests that are saving our asses right now, and seal their own fate for worldly posessions.

Back to the subject, I am in no way condoning drugs, I don't feel that they are productive to a person in any way. But who am I to tell you what and what not to touch. I am not your parent and I do not know what is best for you, because I don't care. You are not me. You are not mine. And you are your own person. "President" Bush...he is not my father, I don't give a shit about him or what he does in his free time (like cocaine). I feel this money should be going to funding to better ourselves. Public school funding has been cut more than half within the last 5 years so that we can fight something that could help us more by using it than fighting it. 600 million more dollars a year that could teach our children, give them books. They are the future, and pretty soon they might not have one anymore. Which brings me to the next war we are fighting so viciously.

Terrorism. Yeah there was already a post on that. I just want to make one point. If we would just keep our noses out of everyones business, then we wouldn't have Osama and his crazy men detroying buildings. I guess if we hadn't TRAINED him to do such things, he wouldn't know how. Bush Sr was head of CIA when they went to Afghanistan to teach them to fly planes and drop bombs on the Russians. My, how the tables have turned around and bit us in the ass.

The only other subject I want to touch is the death of those men and women that perished upon reentry on Saturday. The Columbia was a 20+ year old space shuttle. Made of some of the strongest material in the world....in 1980! How far has technology some since then? Where are the brand new space shuttles that we should be designing, building. Safer shuttles, with more power, using lesser fuel. But I guess updating is okay...right? Since NASA's funds were cut to aid these wars we're winning so triumphantly....that justifies the lives we lost. The scientists, the mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers who could have been spared with correct funding going towards bettering ourselves as humans instead of trying to destroy ourselves. We could be learning so much more about what goes on outside of this world....instead of attempting to blow it up.

I don't think I will be around when humans finally destroy themselves. But I pray for that day to come. For a race that kills its own kind, that should be its fate. Maybe....we'll wake up. And realize our potential before it's too late.

In no way am I looking for your opinions of what I think (if you want to express it I won't be upset, even if you think Im an ass...fuck you if you do ;) ). I just needed to let off a little steam.

According to NPR this afternoon the US is asking Turkey to allow us to use their country as a place of deployment. Turkey came back with, okay sure, if you give us fifty billion dollars whoahahaha! What would that money go to? To rebuild Turkey after Iraq or some other country invades them with chemical-biological warfare!? Is that too much speculation? Maybe, but if we do give Turkey that money, it will be 50 billion of our tax paying money going to a war that personally I will never support! Give everyone an education instead. Maybe then there won't be so many ignorant people running around the world!
IGNORANCE BREEDS IGNORANCE
VIOLENCE BREEDS VIOLENCE
