I havent read it myself, but I have heard good things about "Infinite Jest" by David Foster Wallace.

About 1000 pages, but phenomenal from what I hear. Most of the story takes place in Tucson and Phoenix, also.

The autobiography of Malcolm X.
Catcher in the Rye.

Has anyone ever read 'Behold a Pale Horse'? I'm into that kinda stuff, and personally, I think writing that book exposed the guy for the fraud he is.

EZ.

One of my fav books would be 'The Wind- up Bird Chronicles' by Haruki Murakami. I love translated books, it makes understanding a different culture so much easier although sometimes you come to parts that don't really translate into english and then don't make sense.

Pale Blue Horse sounds interesting tho....I wonder if Bill Coooper was abducted by aliens???????????????

I read pale horse, it got pretty rediculous when the guy starts ranting about how the illuminati are going to turn jupiter into a new star called 'satan'. the guy's nuts.

this is probably just for the girls, but I'm reading Memoirs of a Geisha right now by Arthur Golden and it is excellent. I've also just read The Red Tent by Anita Diamant, and I could not put it down until I was finished with the whole thing.

some guy..you're right aboout 1984...it's a dope book...most people don't realize that it is where the term "big brother" was derived from. it's too bad the title makes it seem dated as the political/social commentary is more relevant today than it ever was...with our "war on terrorism" and the government wanting more and more access to our privacy.

for all non-readers they also made a movie about this ominously futuristic book...staring John Hurt and Richard Burton that is incredibly close to the book.

also if you like neo-futuristic hyper paranoia check out anything by phillip k. dick...a lot of his stories/books have been turned into movies.
movies like" bladerunner" (do androids dream of electric sheep), "total recall" (ubik), and the new movie "minority report". another good book by p.k. dick is the three stigmata of palmer eldrich.

but don't take it from me...i dunno how to read.:crazy

Most of you kids should be interested in this book- "Last Night a DJ saved my life"- the History of the disc jockey by Bill Brewster and Frank Broughton. It gives the history all the way back to when the first record was played on radio (1920's??) It covers so many aspects related to the dj and dance too. Northern Soul>reggae>disco>hip hop>garage>house>techno>doesn't have it's own chapter of DnB but there is a lot said in the book about it. I have been emailing with the one author for a while now and he has helped me alot with journalism ideas- etc. It's the kind of book where you can skip around and can take your time reading it. Highly recomend it!

if he was a fruad then why did the government have him killed in the wake of 911 for his revelations on the suppossed terrorist attack on the world trade center? I live in less than 90 miles from where William Milton Cooper lived outside of sedona. The government shot him dead after trying to "bait" him off his property to a "disturbance" at a nieghbors house. Before you start claiming people a fruad you should do a little more research. Why would somebody who recieved an honorable discarge from the navy write a book that had endangered not only his life but the life of his family? He had already had attempts on his life before which left him paralized? Right from the get go he states that he is not aware of what is disinformation and what isn't, he simply wanted people to "QUESTION AUTHORITY!" The man was naval intelligence, and was privy to alot of top secret information... Believe it or not somebody wanted him dead for something he wrote in his book as well as things he had spoke about on radio talk shows!!!:foff

See also DAVID ICKE; "The Robots Rebellion"
he touches down on some of the same subjects, like the Illuminati, the bilderbergers, the council on foriegn relations, the trilateral commision, ABC, NBC, CBS, Sony, Kraft foods, Mobile oil, Standard oil, Zapata oil, the Rockafellas, the Rothchilds, NASA, the federal reserve, planned parenthood, world wildlife federation, the list goes on and on, and the connection seems more and more clear the deeper you get... Wake up!!! It is the robots rebellion!!!

William Gibson! "Neuromancer" and "Virtual Light" are two of the greatest "cyberpunk" books of all time. Indeed, "Neuromancer" pretty much created the genre. You can't go wrong. Old school Arthur C. Clarke is good shit, too. :wes
